You play an important role in helping young kids recognize and talk about their feelings and build skills for coping with adversity and managing big emotions. The Iowa Alliance for Healthy Kids is excited to team up with Sesame Street in Communities to offer you activities to help!
We are offering child- and family-serving programs FREE activities and materials to build social-emotional skills with young kids this summer. All Sesame Street-branded activities are focused on helping kids with skills like naming and exploring their feelings, coping with stress, problem solving, and building positive relationships.
Orders are now closed. We will update this page by mid-May with resources you can print and use on your own.
Lesson Plan Kit: Designed for programs that engage young kids (camps, early learning centers, summer meal sites, etc.), each kit will contain everything needed to host lessons and activities that build children’s social-emotional skills. You will receive lessons in three topic areas, with step-by-step instructions, print outs, and supplies for kids to complete during the program, along with take home items to reinforce skills at home. Lessons will not require technology to implement. A short training on how to implement the activities will be offered in late May. Each kit serves 25 students. Kits are available in English and Spanish.
Resource Boxes: Designed for programs serving children and families with young kids, each box will contain Sesame Street-branded materials to serve 25 kids/families. The box will contain a welcome overview letter, coloring books, three types of handouts offering quick tips for caregivers to support kids, six posters sharing quick ideas for kids and families; packets of printed handouts with coloring activities for kids and easy-to-read articles for parents, and crayons. Materials could also include Sesame Street in Communities swag, books, and additional printout activities if available.
